There were no widespread attempts to undermine elections or referendums last year, according to a new report by the Electoral Commission.
More than 39m votes were cast last year, but only 224 cases of alleged electoral malpractice were reported to the police. Of these, 99 required no further action and none were found to have affected the outcome of any election.
