Highland Council has awarded Fujitsu preferred bidder status for its new information communications and technology (ICT) services contract. The five-year contract worth around £66m will see the firm manage the authority's entire ICT estate, including scope for a roll out to all schools in the area. The partnership will invest in the transformation and modernisation of the council's entire ICT infrastructure, systems and services. It will include major projects for new customer relationship management, as well as the provision of unified communications solutions. Cllr Carolyn Wilson, chairman of council's resources committee, said the contract would deliver efficiency savings of £6.76m over the course of its duration, as well as providing reduced carbon emissions and energy consumption.
