Suffolk Coastal DC is trying to raise £10m to protect 1,600 homes at risk from flooding. Coastal erosion has meant that it is now impossible to walk from the promenade in Felixstowe and down to the beach, because there is an eight-foot drop. Defence work was due to start next month, but the Government has now withdrawn funding.
