An outdoor performance space in Blackpool, arts studios, a Napoleonic fort in Torbay, and secret wartime tunnels in Dover are to share £10m in funding from the new Sea Change programme. The grants, from the Department of Culture and Media and Sport, are the first to be awarded under the three-year, £45m Sea Change programme to help revive the fortunes of seaside towns. The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) will oversee the programme, and chief executive, Richard Simmons, said: ‘These projects embed good design and culture as a catalyst for quality place-making to benefit the community and visitor alike.'
