Logica has signed a deal with Wiltshire CC to streamline frontline services, and help the transition to unitary status, which starts next year. The seven-year contract is expected to deliver savings of up to £11m a year ,as part of a business-management programme. Logica will lead the transformation programme and implement a new IT system, with new processes for finance, procurement, HR, payroll services and performance management. A shared services centre to provide transactional support for the new authority will also be created. Wiltshire is one of a number of new unitary authorities being created by the Government to ‘go live' from April 2009. ‘We look forward to working with the Wiltshire councils to transform their business services and operations, in readiness for the new Wiltshire unitary authority in 2009,' said Logica's UK chief executive, Joe Hemming. ‘Our experience with other local government organisations and track record in implementing successful solutions position us well to deliver the required benefits. ‘The ultimate goal is to deliver value for money, and this is at the centre of the change management, business and IT services which we deliver for our customers,' he added. Wiltshire CC's director of resources, Carlton Brand, said: ‘The creation of a single authority is a major undertaking for us, and we needed a long-term partner with experience in creating and operating a shared services model to assure our drive for efficiency and value for money can be achieved. ‘Logica's proven track record in implementing successful change-management programmes in local government made it the clear choice to help us deliver on our promise to give the people of Wiltshire greater value for money at no cost to the quality of frontline services we deliver.'
