Deprived areas in England have been given a boost, with 10 innovative proposals awarded £157m in a government programme promoting enterprise and employment. The schemes, in areas including Blackpool, Doncaster and Leeds, will be funded for three years in the second round of the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, a regeneration programme.
