Local Government Association (LGA) leaders will hand eight councils £20,000 each to kick-start innovative procurement schemes across the so-called ‘big win' areas of elderly care, waste collection, property, roads and corporate services.
The eight authorities secured LGA funding following a bidding process last year. Cllr Peter Fleming, chairman of the LGA's improvement board, said: ‘The LGA looks forward to working with the successful pilot areas to make efficiencies which can be used to protect vital frontline services and bring savings to the public purse.'
