Councils in England have lost out on £2.3bn in unpaid council tax, according to new figures from the DCLG.
Published on 27 June, the numbers come as a harsh blow at a time of desperate cash shortages in local government, due to swingeing cuts in central government funding over the lifetime of this Parliament.
