The Audit Commission has announced plans to save councils and other public sector bodies almost £25m by cutting auditing fees and rebates, and waiving inspection charges.

The Audit Commission has announced plans to save councils and other public sector bodies almost £25m by cutting auditing fees and rebates, and waiving inspection charges.

The inspection organisation, which will be scrapped by 2012, is proposing to cut audit fees by 20% for 2011/12, in a bid to save its customers £11.8m.
