IT giant Fujitsu has pulled out of a £40m project to provide rural broadband in Cumbria, leaving BT as the only remaining bidder for the contract.

Cumbria CC was due to decide which of the two firms would be awarded the contract to install high-speed broadband across the county in the autumn, but was told last week that Fujitsu would withdraw from the process.
