Mouchel has doubled its management consultancy business after buying Hedra for £50m. The deal to take over the privately-owned management consultancy is the largest deal for the group since Mouchel and Parkman merged in 2003. Hedra acts as a strategic adviser and implementation partner, helping to establish policy initiatives in government departments and councils. ‘The acquisition gives scale and breadth to Mouchel's position in the public sector, and complements the acquisition of HBS last August,' said Mouchel chief executive, Richard Cuthbert. ‘By merging Hedra with our existing management consultancy and project management practice, we move directly into the premier league in this area, and strengthen our in-house capacity to deliver and transform single and multi-service outsourced contracts,' he added. Said Hedra chief executive, Mark Campbell: ‘The combination of Mouchel and Hedra will create an organisation which can contribute significantly to the continuing transformation of public services organisations in the UK. We are very excited to become a part of Mouchel at this exciting stage in its growth. ‘The fit between our two businesses is excellent in terms of market focus and commitment to excellence in client delivery.' Mouchel has also been hailed as one of the best companies to work for in the country after coming 16th in a poll by The Sunday Times. The firm was only one of three in its sector to be listed in the newspaper's ‘best big companies to work for' poll. ‘This award is great news for our profile in the industry and for our ability to attract the calibre of people who'll make Mouchel an even better place to be,' said Mr Cuthbert.
