Communities minister Andrew Stunell this week allocated the first £70m from a £100m fund designed to help councils bring empty homes back into use.

More than 90 projects received a share of the first wave of cash, and the DCLG expects around 5,600 properties to be brought back into use – at least 2,300 more properties than initially predicted.
