£80m Glasgow TIF project gets the thumbs-up

Plans for a multimillion-pound redevelopment of Glasgow city centre have been given the go ahead by the Scottish Government.

Cabinet secretary for infrastructure and capital investment, Alex Neil, has given approval for an £80m tax incremental financing (TIF) scheme for the Buchanan Quarter, which is expected to attract a further £310m in private investment, and create almost 1,500 jobs. Glasgow City Council, which created the TIF scheme, plans to upgrade the Royal Concert Hall, make infrastructure improvements in George Square and Buchanan Street, strengthen the Cathedral Street bridge, and improve access to Queen Street station.
