Sir Peter Gershon, who led the Government's independent review of public sector efficiency in 2004, has been appointed to a top role at Vertex. The UK's second-largest business process outsourcer has appointed the former CEO of the Office of Government Commerce as non-executive chairman of the company's investor board. Sir Peter said he was ‘delighted' to be joining Vertex. ‘The company is successfully helping both private and public sector organisations transform the way they deliver services to their customers – from the efficiency of many of their processes, to their effectiveness of supporting technology and the culture of their people,' he said. Prior to his public sector role, Sir Peter spent his career in the computer telecommunications and defence industries. Between 1990 and 1999 he was managing director of GPT and then GEC Marconi Electronic Systems. He later went on to become chief operating officer for BAE systems. Vertex CEO, Richard Graham, added: ‘All these attributes mean he will make a very important contribution to strengthening the investor board, and to the company as a whole.'
