The largest overhaul of public buying rules in decades has just become law. Although local authorities won't have to comply with the Procurement Act until October 2024, a six-month implementation period begins in just a few months and council buyers must be ready.
I worked for years in different local authority procurement teams so I know just how much change these new regulations will bring. Councils will face increased transparency demands along with more stringent measurement and reporting requirements. This means a lot more issuing of notices and redacting of contracts.
