Civil service spending on corporate credit cards has plummeted by £45m in a year, furnishing more evidence of the Efficiency and Reform Group's search for ‘low-hanging fruit' expenditure savings.
New data issued by the Cabinet Office reveals that the use of the pan-government payment card scheme – supported by a range of financial service providers – fell across departments from £387m in 2009/10 to £341.9m in the last financial year – an 11.7% drop.
