Government isn't listening

The Spending Review was a missed opportunity to sort out the funding crisis in local government, says Sir Ed Davey. He calls on government to be much bolder on finances and social care.

The crisis in local government funding should be setting alarms blaring across Whitehall – but I am increasingly worried that ministers just don't seem to be listening.

This really matters. Councils deliver so many of the local services people rely on every day. It is local government – people coming together to make decisions about their local area – that can make the biggest difference to people's lives.
