Government plans to move to Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) will ‘make life simpler for everyone', a campaigner has said.

Chief executive of the Electoral Reform Society campaign group, Darren Hughes, said the move would help enfranchise the 8.2 million people missing from the electoral register and bring the UK's registration system in line with countries such as Sweden, Germany and South Korea.
