Government reaches final deal with unions over pensions

Ministers and public sector trade unions have reached a final agreement on the future of pensions schemes.

Ministers and public sector trade unions have reached a final agreement on the future of pensions schemes covering civil servants, NHS staff and teachers, from 2015.

The announcement is the result of work undertaken since the two sides reached provisional ‘heads of agreement' deals on future pension plans in December 2011.
