A group of Parliament's most influential MPs has criticised the Government's approach to key public sector appointments.

In a report issued 6 September, the House of Commons Liaison Committee – which brings together all select committee chairs – states ministers have misjudged the mood of MPs and public expectations by delaying its response to suggestions that the number of major public roles directly subject to parliamentary scrutiny should be expanded.
