UK graduates will be left jobless because of huge cuts in public sector positions, a leading think-tank has warned. The Centre for Cities says almost 300,000 public sector jobs could be cut by 2014, and unless more highly-skilled jobs can be generated in the private sector, cities will continue to see graduate unemployment rise. Currently, more than half of graduates go on to work in the public sector. Graduates from Tyne and Wear, greater Birmingham and Leeds universities have seen the largest increases in unemployment this year.
