Grant funding's phase-in

The fair funding review 2.0 has landed, but will it put the whole of a beleaguered sector onto a financially sustainable footing and improve the lives of residents? Ann McGauran reports.

Politicians of the past may have dangled promises of fair funding for councils, but this Government has now delivered a plan, alongside a short, sharp two-month consultation.

Politically, the review has much heavy lifting to do as the Government seeks to redistribute funding towards areas that are more deprived, while warding off the growing electoral threat posed by Reform.
