Councils will receive their share of a £100m funding boost from the CLG's local business growth incentive scheme this week. Local government minister, John Healey, confirmed on 23 February that 360 councils would share the cash pot from the Local Authority Business Growth Incentive (LABGI) scheme, which rewards authorities which encourage higher volumes of local trade. ‘Different parts of the country will be affected by this downturn. Councils are best placed to provide real help locally, tailored to local needs,' he said.
