Cornwall Council and Devon CC have both expressed interest in taking greater control over rail services in their responses to a Department for Transport consultation on the future of the Great Western franchise.
Devon is currently exploring ways to bring all local rail services together under a single Metro brand, and a special report is being prepared for cabinet members in Cornwall.
