Leeds City Council has teamed up with a consortium of local companies to plant fruit trees in Durban, South Africa, to offset its carbon footprint. Council leader, Mark Harris, said: ‘The council is committed to being a green authority, and this tree-planting scheme is one of a number of projects which are helping minimise the effect that its actions have on the environment.'
