Green light given for plans to reduce councillor numbers

Members of Suffolk Coastal DC approve measures which could reduce the number of councillors by more than a fifth.

Members of Suffolk Coastal DC have approved measures which could reduce the number of councillors by more than a fifth from 55 to 43 – a move that could save the authority more than £100,000 annually.

Proposals agreed by a working group of councillors, which included all four political group leaders, will be put before the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE).
