Greenwich LBC has signed a £6m seven-year deal with IT company Logicalis. The deal will see Logicalis providing the upgrade and implementation of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN). It will also form part of a borough-wide modernisation programme to improve internal operational efficiencies, and will support new e-services for residents and visitors to the London 2012 Olympics. The council's deputy leader, Cllr Peter Brooks, said: ‘The decision to outsource the day-to-day operational maintenance of the network will enable us to focus on delivering applications and services which streamline existing processes, and work to ensure residents and local businesses continue to receive value-for-money services from their tax contributions.' The London borough operates a ‘direct' facilities model – meaning all community services are managed in-house. So, it claims outsourcing the day-to-day maintenance of its IT network will free it up for service delivery.
