Growing London benefits everyone

London must not be ignored as the Government focuses on spreading devolution across England – for the good of the whole country, writes Antonia Jennings.

In 1998, Londoners were posed a question: ‘Are you in favour of the Government's proposals for a Greater London Authority, made up of an elected mayor and a separately elected assembly?'

Almost three-quarters of Londoners voted yes. More than 25 years on, with a capital with a changed demography, evolved challenges and different industry make up, devolution to London needs an upgrade.
