Hackney LBC has started giving money to budding sports stars, after winning £220,000 compensation from clothing manufacturer Nike. The London borough was awarded the money after Nike used the council's logo on its sportswear without permission. The first recipients from the fund received their money last week at a ceremony at the town hall. ‘It is great to see so many talented young people and local clubs benefit from the compensation money the council fought for,' said corporate director, community services, Kim Wright.
