Enfield LBC's deputy leader has called on the Government to hand back more of London taxpayers' money to fund public services properly in the capital. Cllr Michael Lavender said London taxpayers shouldered an overwhelming disproportionate burden of the UK's tax bill, following a report revealing Londoners' net contribution of £12.7bn to UK public finances in 2005-6, which is 18% of the total government tax take.
