The Labour leader of the Scottish Parliament, Wendy Alexander, has pledged to use her leadership to renew the Scottish Labour Party. She apologised for the party's defeat to the SNP at the Labour's party conference in Bournemouth, and emphasised Labour's new leadership was about ‘shouldering responsibility' and not ‘passing the buck'.
