'Hard to see' what underpins LGR other than politics, says Reform

Reform has said it is ‘hard to see' what lies behind Labour's reorganisation plans other than ‘carving out places they think they can still win'.

Reform has said it is ‘hard to see' what lies behind Labour's reorganisation plans other than ‘carving out places they think they can still win'.

Head of local government delivery for the party, Ben Bradley, told The MJ: ‘Given that Labour is now ignoring its own initial logic and criteria [for reorganisation], which it said was about financial sustainability and saving money, it's hard to see where the proposals are coming from apart from the politics. If so it's an appalling abuse of power with huge risks to councils and services.'
