WORKFORCE

Head of Highways, Lincolnshire County Council

Full Time, 37 hours per week

We are an ambitious, progressive organisation that strives to provide modern and responsive public services to the residents of Lincolnshire. We are a large diverse employer that recognises and values the contribution of our workforce. Proud of our achievements we look to strengthen our current workforce in a range of service areas.

Our roads are extremely important to us; as one of the most rural counties in England, they support the local economy, provide access to jobs and services, and enable thousands of visitors to experience our beautiful coast and countryside.

We have four geographically-aligned teams who look after more than 9,000 kilometres of road, providing a comprehensive range of highways services, from day to day maintenance through to working on some of the most exciting road projects in the county over the next few years.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with wide ranging knowledge and experience in the delivery of highway services at a Senior Management level to join our dedicated team of professionals, ensuring that our standards are maintained and our residents, business and visitors can continue to move around our county in safety with the minimum of disruption.

An experienced and motivated manager, you will have the knowledge and experience of highway service delivery to provide leadership for your local team, contribute to the overall management of the highways and transportation service for the county as well as taking on responsibility for leading other county wide services (eg operational delivery of our floods and drainage management work or the countryside service etc).

You will have a proven track record in leadership and management, ideally within the local government sector; although this is not essential, you should be comfortable working in a political environment. Ideally you will be a Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer, with significant relevant experience in partnership working, project management, budgetary control and change management.

You will be required to travel to undertake the duties of the role. The post will attract the payment of relocation expenses where applicable in line with current Lincolnshire County Council Relocation Scheme.

For an infomal discussion about the role, please contact Paul Coathup, Assistant Director for Communities, on (01522) 553086.

Closing date midnight Friday 22 June 2012. Assessment centre will take place on Friday 6 July 2012 with interviews on Tuesday 10 & Wednesday 11 July 2012.
