Make a Difference to West Sussex

West Sussex County Council is a progressive and high performing authority with an ambitious agenda. The strategic direction has now been set, and the desire and will to make a difference for the people of West Sussex is at the heart of all we do.

As Head of Human Resources, you will lead the commissioning and development of Organisational Development and Human Resources services to meet the needs of WSCC now and in the future. This means ensuring strategic objectives are delivered through HR strategies, policies and processes to optimise employee engagement and maximise people and organisational effectiveness.

You will need to have significant knowledge of the macro social and economic context within which public sector organisations operate, and the implications of this for achieving the authority's objectives. The successful candidate will also need to have had extensive experience as a senior Human Resources Manager in a complex multi-discipline organisation, with highly developed influencing skills.

Above all, we are seeking someone with the vision and determination to ensure the Council has the right skills and capabilities to deliver its strategic ambitions.

For an informal discussion about the role, please call Derek Irvine, Director of Strategic Development on 033022 22678.

Closing date: 13 May 2013

First stage interviews will be held 6 to 12 June 2013 and second stage interviews w/c 17 June 2013 (subject to change)
