WORKFORCE

Head of Safeguarding and Quality Assurance

Through your expertise and our partnerships, we'll keep every child safe and sound.

At the London Borough of Barnet, we believe in making changes that will bring positive results. Our goal is to serve our community to the best of our ability and we place the people of Barnet at the heart of everything we do. Establishing better ways of working is important, but it's the impact they have on our borough that's paramount. We're undertaking a major transformation to bring commissioning to the heart of what we do.

Your challenge will be to lead the management of all children's safeguarding and quality assurance-related services for the Council. You'll provide advice on child protection issues, manage the child protection conference and lead on our domestic violence strategy. You'll also see that resources are used as efficiently as possible, develop your team and support the development of children's service policies, projects and programmes. Perhaps most importantly, you'll work with a range of partners to deliver services, supporting the local Children's Safeguarding Board and leading partnership work. The key is to adapt your approach to provide the best possible service and to work in a collaborative way.

Having developed and delivered effective services before, you will already know how to manage finances, costs and complex multi-disciplinary teams. You also have extensive knowledge of child protection and children in care procedures, plus the legislative and statutory frameworks involved. However, to make the grade, you'll also need to know how to build effective partnerships and manage commissioning activity. If you have the talents we're looking for, there could be a key role for you at the heart of our dedicated team.

Expiry date 25 November, 2012.
