Head of Service - Family Support - Dorset County Council

Head of Service - Family Support - Dorset County Council

Bring it all together

Safeguarding, health, wellbeing, prevention, care, planning, budgets and operational excellence. Managing these challenges and demands is no easy task and requires bringing people together to work closely as a team.

We also believe that now is the time to dramatically reshape the way we provide services. Working as part of the management team reporting to the Director, you can work with us to achieve this and make a difference to the experience of children, young people and families across Dorset.

You'll be responsible for delivering integrated services across a full range of early help, safeguarding and care provision. This will include planning, allocating and monitoring budgets while ensuring we continue to provide the highest standards in keeping children safe and in promoting their overall health and wellbeing.

In fact our commitment to provision of early intervention universal services is a cornerstone of our capability. It will provide you with the opportunity to take our strengths, and improve on them even more. To make this happen, you'll need outstanding management and strategic skills.

You should also have an appropriate professional qualification and senior managerial expertise at strategic and operational level. You'll need an in-depth understanding of relevant policies and legislation and these skills will be essential in ensuring support and safeguarding to the most vulnerable children and young people, and in providing early intervention to reduce the numbers requiring specialist services.

In return, we'll help you thrive in a rewarding role that offers the opportunity to shape and develop critical strategies and best practice. We offer a healthy work/life balance and excellent benefits, too. And we can provide professional challenges and opportunities that are rich with the potential to enhance your career and make a real difference.
