Housing minister, John Healey, joined TV presenter, Kevin McCloud, who presents Grand Designs, and energy secretary, Ed Miliband, to back a campaign aimed at improving home insulation. Tackling inefficient housing stock will be key to meeting tough targets to cut carbon emissions. Mr McCloud told The MJ councils had a critical role. ‘The intelligent solution is to empower our communities if we are to unlock the energy savings within the UK's 26m homes,' he said. ‘We are investing in the short term for long-term gain.'
