Local government minister, John Healey, has commissioned a study of the consequences of the growing credit crunch crisis on regeneration schemes. Localgov.co.uk reported last week that ministers were being urged to allow councils to help first-time buyers who are being hit by the credit crunch. The new study will be led by Michael Parkinson, of Liverpool John Moores University, and look at how different projects and strategies could be influenced by the current, international climate. ‘The tightening terms of credit, uncertainty in the housing market and slower economic growth could all have an impact on regeneration investments,' said Mr Healey.
