The Local Government Association has called for a debate about how the care of an ageing population is funded. An LGA report shows central government funding has not kept pace with the needs of an ageing population and older people's increasingly complex needs. The LGA has warned free basic care for the elderly could be completely withdrawn due to a growing funding gap.
