Housing minister Grant Shapps has urged more authorities to follow the example of Liverpool City Council and sign up to the ‘No second night out' pledge to help tackle rough sleeping and homelessness.

He promised an additional £18.5m in funding to help councils provide advice and information to people at risk of rough sleeping, on top of an existing £400m grant aimed at preventing homelessness.
