Herefordshire Council has scrapped its schools closure programme in favour of a county-wide review of schools. The original plan, which caused huge uproar among residents, would have seen the possible closure or amalgamation of 37 primary schools and one secondary school. ‘If we don't address the surplus capacity issue, the Government could take money away from us,' said Cllr Sally Robertson, chair of children's services scrutiny committee.
