Five local authorities in north-east England have each been handed £100,000 to help breathe new life into their moribund high streets.
Darlington, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough councils will join Newcastle City Council and North Tyneside MBC in supporting new businesses into empty shops through cash from the Government's High Street Innovation Fund.
