The chief executive of soon-to-be scrapped Bedfordshire CC, Andrea Hill, has landed the top job at Suffolk CC. Ms Hill, who will be on a salary of up to £220,000, will take over the reins from Mike More, who leaves next month to become chief executive at Westminster City Council. The pressure group Taxpayers' Alliance criticised her new salary for being excessive. Bedfordshire CC will be abolished next year as part of plans to reorganise the county into two unitaries. Ms Hill has been chief executive at Bedfordshire CC since 2004 and has also held senior posts at North Hertfordshire DC and Cambridge City Council. During her time at Bedfordshire CC, the authority has gone from having no CPA stars to being a three star council. Her appointment will be formally confirmed at a council meeting on 27 March. ‘Working for Bedfordshire CC has been an incredible experience,' she said. ‘I am so proud of what the council has achieved for its communities.' ‘The people I have worked with at Bedfordshire – staff and councillors – are the best in the business,' said Ms Hill. ‘That means whatever the future holds, I am sure council services will continue to improve and that residents will continue to benefit from their work.' Bedfordshire CC leader Madeline Russell said: ‘I am sorry that Ms Hill is leaving us after the remarkable turnaround she has helped achieve in Bedfordshire.' ‘She leaves with our gratitude for what she has helped us achieve, and our best wishes for future success in her career,' added Cllr Russell. ‘I am certain Suffolk will benefit from her leadership, drive and vision in the way which Bedfordshire CC has.'
