Welsh council tax increases are in line with England and the second-lowest increase since the introduction of council tax. Minister for finance, local government and public services, Sue Essex, commended councils in Wales for keeping down council tax to ‘historically low levels'. And WLGA leader, Derek Vaughan, slammed CIPFA's recent claims the rise was above inflation adding: ‘This year councils have again risen to the challenge of keeping increases to a minimum while ensuring essential local services are protected.'
