Councils are being urged to tighten planning laws around Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) as the battle between government and local authorities over asylum widens.

Reform UK council leaders last week jumped onto the High Court's ruling in favour of Epping Forest DC which prevents the Home Office from accommodating asylum seekers in a local hotel.
