Homeless handed rising proportion of social housing

The proportion of social housing being allocated to homeless people has risen, according to data collated by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

The proportion of social housing being allocated to homeless people has risen, according to data collated by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

Figures showed 43% of homes let by councils and other social landlords in England in 2024-25 went to households classed as statutorily homeless, up from 34% two years earlier.
