MPs have warned of tenants being dependent on housing benefits under the Government's affordable homes programme.

The Government's affordable homes programme risks making tenants dependent on housing benefits, ‘undermining' wider welfare reforms, MPs have warned.

Under the scheme, through which the Government aims to build 80,000 homes by 2015, grants to housing providers average £20,000.
