Scotland has joined efforts to ease the housing crisis with a new planning policy encouraging councils to identify more land for development. The draft Scottish planning policy 3: Planning for housing is out for consultation until the end of March. Planning minister, Stewart Stevenson, said: ‘We must improve the supply of homes to buy, to rent and for low-cost home ownership across Scotland, especially in areas facing housing pressures.'
