HRA subsidy loss, Bristol's gain

According to a report due to be handed to the Bristol City council's cabinet, the abolition of the HRA subsidy system is good news.

The abolition of the centralised Housing Revenue Account (HRA) subsidy system is good news for council housing in Bristol, according to a report due to be handed to the local authority's cabinet later this month.

The report estimates that Bristol City Council will have £10m extra a year under the reformed housing finance programme, which could be ploughed into building new homes and spending more on repairs.
