Fresh fears for the future of beleaguered care home operator, Southern Cross Healthcare, have been raised, after the firm announced a pre-tax loss of £310m.

Fresh fears for the future of beleaguered care home operator, Southern Cross Healthcare, have been raised, after the firm announced a pre-tax loss of £310m.

The operator posted an operating loss of £6.8m for the six months to 31 March, and a pre-tax loss of £310.9m – which includes an accounting write-off of £267.8m on previous purchases and property.
